(Power) Wagons Ho! RamZone Heads to Moab

Posted on March 30th, 2010 by Ram Zone

This week marks the launch of the Moab Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah and the start of one of the most amazing, awe-inspiring events in the off-roading community. Despite the name, Moab isn’t just for Jeeps and this year, Ram will be trotting out a few special edition Power Wagons to test their mettle against Utah’s harshest terrain. We’ll be kicking off our coverage as soon as our well-worn boots hit the ground on Wednesday, so be sure to check back frequently for live updates.

For those of you lucky enough to make it out to Utah, see you on the trails!

Ram “Truck of the ___” Spot Goes Live, Makes Us Want To Tow Something

Posted on March 24th, 2010 by Ram Zone

Even though the behind-the-scenes glimpse of how Klaus Obermeyer captured the snow plow sequence was admittedly pretty enthralling, the sneak previews simply do not compare to the finished product. We’re not typically prone to using words like “beautiful” and “moving” unless we’re describing the seven layer burrito we wolfed down at lunch, but we’ve got to say, Obermeyer really knocked it out of the park.

2010 Ram 1500 Crowned Tow Vehicle of the Year

Posted on March 23rd, 2010 by Ram Zone

Today, Ram can add another notch to its belt with Trailer Boats Magazine’s newest announcement. After strenuous testing and a thorough real-world evaluation, Trailer Boats Magazine has honored the 2010 Ram 1500 as the Tow Vehicle of the Year, placing it first amongst the industry’s top half-ton pickups.

“This year the editors focused on light-duty pickups,” explained Jim Hendricks, publisher and editorial director of Trailer Boats magazine. “This class has experienced dramatic improvements in features and ride quality over the past few years, with beefed-up tow ratings approaching those traditionally associated with heavy-duty pickups.” Continued Hendricks, “The Ram 1500 with the 5.7L Hemi not only reflects this trend, but its smooth and powerful performance scored consistently high during our examination. The ride, handling and braking of the Ram 1500 – in both towing and non-towing situations – scored highest among the competitors.

So, even at the risk of sounding cornier than that unnecessarily enthusiastic camp counselor we had back in junior high (he used to iron a crease into his shorts before Capture the Flag, we kid you not), get out there and get your tow on!

Klaus Obermeyer Gives a Sneak Peek into the Making of “Ram Truck of the ___”

Posted on March 18th, 2010 by Ram Zone

Check out the Ram “Behind The Scenes” video, and get all the inside information on the latest epic Ram Trucks brand TV commercial about to be released for the Ram Heavy Duty pickup truck – celebrating its status as the 2010 Motor Trend Truck of the Year®.

This piece was produced by the well-known Aero Films, and filmed and directed by acclaimed director Klaus Obermeyer, known for his outstanding extreme sports cinematography and whose credits include work with other major advertisers like Visa, Sony, Bridgestone, Gillette, GM, and Nissan.

Filmed in a variety of locations throughout California, Nevada, New Mexico, and Arizona, the new “Truck of the _____” TV spot celebrates the nobility of grueling, gritty, and tough jobs that build America and keep it rolling, and most importantly, it celebrates the authentic men and women who perform these tasks. Throughout the production, Aero Films worked hard to cast real people who perform these tasks every day, for realism and authenticity. Many shown here are not actors. These guys (and gals) are the real deal!

The creative combines a variety of dramatic scenes and breathtaking scenery including the mountains of Mammoth, California, the Hoover Dam, and the Nevada desert. Locations and jobs fit for one truck, and one truck only: the all-new 2010 Ram Heavy Duty. In addition, a spectacular fire scene was staged at a warehouse in downtown Los Angeles, and the backlot at Universal Studios was employed to create a realistic disaster scene. All created to connect with the human spirit and celebrate the honorable work done by everyday heroes.

2010 NTEA Work Truck Show Video Showcases Ram’s New Features

Posted on March 16th, 2010 by Ram Zone

Although we sincerely wish we could spend every day prowling the grounds of St. Louis in search of bigger and better ways to upfit our naked chassis (sounds dirtier than it is), the 2010 NTEA Work Truck Show only runs for four short days and Friday marked its official close. To celebrate a great run, we decided to save the best footage for last and chose to dedicate today’s final installment of show coverage to both the 2010 Ram HD and Ram 1500. In this collection of videos, our own Bob Hegbloom once again generously takes the time to outline some of the newest features on the 2010 Ram and shares a little bit about the decision process behind the upgrades.

2010 NTEA Work Truck Show: Day 2

Posted on March 15th, 2010 by Ram Zone

Our second day at the 2010 NTEA Work Truck Show proved just as busy as the first – and just as full of rugged accessories and interesting gadgets. In addition to the pictures we’ve shared on our official Flickr feed, we’ve also got exclusive behind-the-scenes video of some of the newest Ram products. Although we’re sure you’d love watching 10 minutes of shaky cam footage as we breathlessly explain how the new urea system works, we were lucky enough to snag face time with Bob Hegbloom and Mike Cairns of Ram Trucks, who did a far better job in front of the camera than we could.

Rammunition Returns, Locked and Loaded

Posted on March 10th, 2010 by Ram Zone

This season, Hall Brothers Racing and their rig, Rammunition, will be returning to the MTRA circuit with a fresh new face, courtesy of Mossy Oak. Dubbed “Break-Up Infinity,” the new graphics are as hardcore as the angry machine they’re affixed to – and the Hall Brothers can’t wait to share the new look with fans. Said Tim Hall, “We are excited to get to work with the folks from Mossy Oak on our new Rammunition monster truck. Mossy Oak and Ram Trucks are both the best in their fields, and we are proud to be associated with the best!”

“We’re fired up about Ram Trucks and Hall Brothers Racing decorating the Rammunition truck with our new pattern Break-Up Infinity,” said Ronnie “Cuz” Strickland. “When these guys say they’ll help us ‘launch’ a pattern they mean for-real launch. Like 20 feet over a school bus launch. We can’t wait to see the new Rammunition this year.”

RamZone Covers The 2010 NTEA Work Truck Show

Posted on March 5th, 2010 by Ram Zone

For those of you actively involved in the commercial truck segment, you’ve probably already marked the National Truck Equipment Association’s Work Truck Show on your calendar. For the rest of you loyal truck users who won’t be able to count yourself amongst the masses at the Work Truck Show, RamZone is preparing to be your official source for all the new, Ram-spec goodies that will be presented at the show. Ordinarily we’d encourage you to check it out for yourselves while we down a can of easy cheese from the comfort of our recliners, but unfortunately the show is closed to the public and thus largely inaccessible for most of you Ram fans. So, although we deeply cherish our downtime in the man cave, the idea of leaving Ram loyalists in the dark is simply unacceptable and to ensure that you stay updated on all the newest Ram-spec gadgetry hitting the market, we’ll be schlepping out to St. Louis, Missouri next week to cover the show live.

If you’re good, we might even bring back The Shat’s autograph.

Ram Heavy Duty Trucks Hit The Road

Posted on March 2nd, 2010 by Ram Zone

In celebration of the launch of the all-new, ultra-capable 2010 Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty pickups, Ram Trucks is launching the 26-state, 50-venue Sportsman’s Tour. Geared (no pun intended) directly towards the Ram HD’s strongest base, the primary objective of the Sportsman’s Tour is to reach out to potential (and current) customers on a familiar level and spread awareness about the Heavy Duty line-up.

“It’s a fact that pickup truck owners — especially Ram Heavy Duty pickup truck owners — enjoy hunting, fishing and boating,” said Fred Diaz, President and CEO – Ram Truck Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “This tour gives our dealers — who, like me, enjoy these outdoor sports — a chance to talk with fellow sportsmen and meet tens of thousands of potential local customers at one time.”
